Barrow Dock Museum

Dock museum window

Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria

We were awarded this commission following a national competition. Our brief was to create a piece of work that would reflect some of the shipbuilding and seafaring history of Barrow. After researching local history and using maps and Admiralty charts we fused symbols and words into the glass and cast bolt heads and rivet shapes to visually unite the window. The two central orange panels were acid etched and screen printed with written accounts of two ships launched in the dockyard dating from 1899 and 1999.
